Commit to Self-Improvement
All of the top leaders know that great leadership is a journey, not a destination. Basically, this means that you should never become complacent; you should never stop searching for ways to improve yourself and further develop your leadership skills.
When you understand that you can never and will never know absolutely everything, but that certainly doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to learn as much as you can, you’ll be in the perfect mindset for making the most of 2019. Be Open and Honest with Yourself
You need to be open to feedback and ideas because otherwise, you will never grow. Being honest with yourself, and receptive to those who ask about or suggest which key areas you need to improve on, will lead you to positive outcomes and results.
Getting in the mindset of being open to improvement is so important if you want to be successful in your leadership journey in the new year.
Be Accountable
Get ready to be accountable in your leadership role; to take charge and assert your leadership. Hold yourself responsible for what goes on, whether in your team’s results or actions, or your own. A true leader assumes accountability for themselves and those around them, so it’s vital that you’re in that state of mind heading into 2019.
Be Ambitious
Being ambitious, whether in your own advancement in your career, or for your company as a whole, is another mindset that truly great leaders hold. Complacency is not an option; you should be wanting to advance yourself, your team and your organisation all the time. Getting fired up and ready to move through the ranks will help you kickstart your new mindset for 2019.
Failure is Fuel to do Better
Nobody likes experiencing rejection and failure; we’re wired to let how others speak and act towards us dictate our own feelings about ourselves. This is something we must actively work on changing because we know ourselves better than anyone else does!
Don’t let failure or rejection stop you, use it instead as fuel to do even better and show your doubters how wrong they are. Once you realise that rejection and failure is a part of life and you start embracing it, you’ll rock your 2019 with a great mindset!
Reconnect with your ‘Why’
Sometimes, when life is really tough, the only thing you have to hold on to is your purpose, your ‘why’. Make sure you take the time on your Christmas break to truly reconnect with your passion; clarify with yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing, and what you want to achieve. This will keep you motivated and help you stick to your resolutions and goals. The new year is another chance to work towards your dreams – so be ready to make them happen!
With these six tips we’ve put together, you’re going to be ready to rock 2019 with your fantastic mindset. Good luck, and make this new year your best ever!
