Do Not Let Your Job Define Your Self-Worth

Recently I received a setback in my business and I took it so personally. Then it hit me, I am getting my self-worth from my work and this can be dangerous. I was losing my identity. The business which I created over 16 years ago had become central to my self-worth. No job or business is worth not valuing who you are and your worth!

Tying your self-worth to your job can lead to stress, burnout, and a loss of personal identity. Here are some tips to help you maintain a healthy separation:

1. Cultivate Hobbies and Interests

Pursue passions: Engage in activities outside of work that bring you joy and fulfilment, such as sports, arts, volunteering, or learning new skills.

Create a work-life balance: Allocate specific times for your hobbies and personal interests to ensure they are prioritised.

2. Focus on Personal Relationships

Strengthen connections: Invest time in nurturing relationships with family and friends. These relationships can provide support and a sense of belonging outside of work.

Participate in social activities: Join clubs, groups, or community events to build a support network that isn’t related to your job.

3. Set Personal Goals

Develop personal aspirations: Identify and work towards goals that are not related to your career. This could include fitness targets, travel plans, or learning a new language.

Celebrate achievements: Acknowledge and reward yourself for reaching personal milestones, no matter how small they may seem.

4. Practice Self-Care
