It comes to no surprise I just love to read. People are always asking me what book I am reading, what books can I recommend, what is your favourite book and why.

So I was reflecting on this just now and thought I would share my absolute favourite and must reads – with the handy help of amazon!

  1. Strengths Finder 2.0

Want a really cool assessment and coaching tool to find your strengths? It’s an easy read, makes so much sense, and can transform teams and leaders!

Do you have the opportunity to do what you do best every day?

Chances are, you don’t. All too often, our natural talents go untapped. From the cradle to the cubicle, we devote more time to fixing our shortcomings than to developing our strengths. To help people uncover their talents, Gallup introduced the first version of its online assessment, StrengthsFinder, in 2001 which ignited a global conversation and helped millions to discover their top five talents. I love this book and use it in our all of our team and leader development and coaching!

  1. Daring Greatly

There is power in Vulnerability! I LOVE this book. Great for ALL Leaders. She also has some fantastic TED talks about this subject. Remember we’re enough…

Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision in Daring Greatly, the #1 New York Times Bestseller and TED talk hit that encourages us to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly and courageously.

Every time we are introduced to someone new, try to be creative, or start a difficult conversation, we take a risk. We feel uncertain and exposed. We feel vulnerable.

Most of us try to fight those feelings – we strive to appear perfect. But in a powerful new vision Dr. Brené Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability, and dispels the widely accepted myth that it’s a weakness. She argues that vulnerability is in fact a strength, and when we shut ourselves off from revealing our true selves we grow distanced from the things that bring purpose and meaning to our lives.

When I show the TED talk at the empowHER program, it creates such emotions and discussions – highly recommend this book and all her writing.

  1. 3The Extraordinary Leader

Zenger Folkman are not only great writers but really wonderful people. I have been accredited in their Leadership Coaching program and this is a fantastic book.

People can learn how to lead. This was the position John H. Zenger and Joseph R. Folkman took when they wrote their now-classic leadership book The Extraordinary Leader

When it was first published, The Extraordinary Leader immediately attracted a wide audience of aspiring leaders drawn to its unique feature: the extensive use of scientific studies and hard data, which served to demystify the concept of leadership and get readers thinking about the subject in a pragmatic way.

The Extraordinary Leader is a remarkable combination of expert insight and extensive research. The authors analyzed more than 200,000 assessments describing 20,000 managers—by far the most expansive research ever conducted for a leadership book. This is a HUGE reason why I love this book and it focusses on the power of strengths-based leadership.

  1. Start with the WHY

Mega cool TED talk, Mega cool Book…

Why are some people and organizations more inventive, pioneering and successful than others? And why are they able to repeat their success again and again?

In business, it doesn’t matter what you do, it matters WHY you do it. Start with Why analyses leaders like Martin Luther King Jr and Steve Jobs and discovers that they all think in the same way – they all started with why.

Simon Sinek explains the framework needed for businesses to move past knowing what they do to how they do it, and then to ask the more important question-WHY?

We show this video in all our programs as it really ties in so well with the neuroscience work we do!
